How does the Visa Gift Card work? A Visa Gift Card can be used wherever Visa debit cards are accepted in the United States. Push "credit" at the point-of-sale terminal and sign the receipt. Because the Visa Gift Card does not come with a PIN, pushing "debit" will cause the Visa Gift Card to decline. Every time the Visa Gift Card is used, the purchase amount is deducted from the available balance until that balance reaches zero. Once the entire gift amount has been spent, the Visa Gift Card can no longer be used as a method of payment. The Visa Gift Card can be kept as a keepsake or be destroyed and discarded.
